Th gist of the first pitch went something like: "The RTS buses here in Gainesville are absolutely horrible on the weekends. Not enough are running and not enough are going to the places you need to go. You have to wait upwards of 30 minutes between buses and lets not forget you're stranded after 6 p.m. My solution: Swift, a 24/7 weekend shuttle service for students who need to get where the need to go no matter the hour of day in a timely fashion."
On my last pitch there were problems seeing the video to begin with so one thing I definitely did differently here was making sure I had a working video for the actual pitch portion. In the comments though and even when I talked to students about this potential service, Uber was always brought up followed by the usual question, "how is it different?" After a while I think it's silly because although it's like Uber it really isn't and is aimed at being a better bus service than personal taxi service.
Based on the feedback i have received thus far I incorporated a much more straightforward discussion about how it would be better and different from Uber. I didn't incorporate the comfort factor because I still want to determine if that is truly something people will value enough to choose my service over another.
Hey Eddy,
ReplyDeleteI think that the idea of a flat rate cost taxi service would be very useful on campus and around town. I know the first time I used an Uber or anything like that I was unaware what to expect or pricing and other factors like that so a flat rate would really help ease a lot of students minds. This was a good video! You should go and check out my Elevator Pitch No. 2 at http://jakesentrepreneurshipuf.blogspot.com/2016/02/elevator-pitch-no-2.html

Hey Eddy, I like your idea very much because I agree with the fact that the busses here aren't up to par on the weekends, especially getting to campus. However, if UF or Santa Fe students do not have to pay for the service, then it would be great. I just do not think that students are willing to pay for such a service if they have the opportunity for a bus service that is normally reliable. I like the idea though, I just feel you are entering a very saturated market with taxis, buses, and Ubers. But it can be done. Your pitch was very good, too. I enjoyed hearing you speak. ReplyDeleteHi Eddy, I really liked watching your pitch. I thought the name "Swift" was very creative and I can see it catching on quickly. As for out actual pitch I think you did a good job including background information as well as substantial information about your own business. I don't think you were too dull or over the top with it. Your voice had just the right amount of power and certainty that made me want to learn more about Swift!
